The Medicine Woman is the Healer of the tribe, holds the knowledge of herb lore and it's uses, she over sees the health of the ones who cannot fend for themselves.  As a part of her position, she occasionally reflects on the knowledge she possesses.  This illustration is an image of self reflection.  As she looks deeply into the Medicine Bowl.. As her vision unfolds, she becomes a part of what when sees, roots of the herb (her "tools of her trade") twist in her hair and wrap around her wrists.  The amulet combines the the images of a Medicine Woman with those things of which she uses on a daily basis: all one in the same.
